The medieval city of
Gubbio
The city of Gubbio was founded by the
ancient Umbrian people and was an important religious centre, as
attested to by the "Tavole Eugubine" bronze tablets dating back to the
2nd and 1st century B.C. It is considered to be one of the most
beautiful medieval cities for its precious sites, such as the
Palazzo dei Consoli. In recent years Gubbio has become even more famous
for providing the setting of the famous Italian television series “Don
Matteo” on the Rai Uno channel.

Gubbio is also renowned for its ceramics and wrought iron and is also a
terrific place for heading out on various excursions: Perugia and
Assisi are 40 Km away - Todi, Spoleto and the
Frasassi caves are 50 Km away and the seaside areas around Fano are
approximately 70 Km away.
Throughout the year the city hosts a wide array of cultural and
folkloristic events.
